27.12.2005: Docview presents documentaries from Finland and its surrounding countriesDOCview, a new feature of DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival was launched succesfully last year. In 2006 DOCview will again provide an insight in the latest documentary production of Finland, Sweden and Russia and the Baltic countries. This year the DOCview selection will also include films from Norway. DOCview consists of DOCview Videotheque and DOCview Programme. The videotheque is targeted at professionals: international distributors, festival organizers, buyers and commissioning editors. The programme offers all festival-goers a chance to see the gems of this year's selection. DOCview selection consists of international films selected by invitation and films from DocPoint's selection of New Finnish Documentaries. All films selected for DocPoint's New Finnish Documentaries category in previous years are automatically included in the DOCview videotheque, which makes the videotheque also a unique collection of the latest and highest ranking documentary film production from Finland. The DOCview programme on the festival silver screens includes Before Flying Back to the Earth by Arunas Matelis (Lithuania), Home for Butterflies by Mark Soosaar (Estonia), The Clown Children by Jannicke Systad Jacobsen (Norway), Raw Youth by Margareth Olin (Norway), In Search of Happiness by Alexander Gutman (Russia), Chernobyl-2 by Olga Smakova (Russia), Stepfather and the Demon by Jasper Lake (Sweden) and Under the Open Sky by Arman Yeritzya (Russia). More titles from the DOCview countries are available in the videotheque - check the pdf-document. DOCview aims to exhibit the diversity of documentary film production found in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Russia and the Baltic countries, and to further the distriburion of the selected films on an international scale. Consisting of a carefully picked selection of current and high-standard material, DOCview's key concept is quality over quantity.
