Leena Närekangas appointed as DocPoint festival’s new Executive Director

Ms. Leena Närekangas will be taking on the responsibilities of Executive Director in DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival on July 1st 2009. Närekangas (born 1972) has been the Executive Director of The Finnish Film Contact and the Festival Director of Kettupäivät short film festival in 2004 - 2009.

Leena Närekangas has graduated as a bachelor of Film and Television in 2002 from Helsinki Polytechnic Stadia. Previously she has worked in different positions in film productions since 1997.

The current Executive Director Jari Matala will be taking on new responsibilities in the film business starting from the beginning of July.

The 9th edition of DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival will take place in Helsinki, Finland on January 26th - 31st 2010.
