Confessiones

Confessiones gives a voice to Zurab Zhvania, one of the key politicians of independent Georgia and the Rose Revolution, a man whose work has been left in the shadow of Eduard Shevardnadze and Mikheil Saakashvili. Zhania died of gas poisoning during his premiership in 2005. According to the official account, the poisoning was caused by an installation error of the gas heater, but assassination suspicions have been connected with his death.

Zhvania speaks in the film of Georgia's dramatic political situation after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. He struggled for a democratic Georgia and aimed at bonding  with Europe rather than with Russia. He tells about corruption and the difficult relationship with Russia, which have impeded the creation of stability. It is rare to witness a person of distinction giving such a testimony behind the scenes of power.
