Photo exhibition at Maxim: Behind the Scenes

Behind the Scenes takes the viewer behind the scenes of a film festival. The success of the festival relies on a professional organisation and staff. The set of photographs was shot during the 2009 DocPoint Documentary Film Festival at Maxim theater in Helsinki.

Photographer Tommi Heinonen portrays the world in a way that could be characterised as staged reality. The deceptive stillness of his photographs conceals something warm and very real. Even though the understated colors, low-key lighting and lack of direct eye contact with the subject create distance, the viewer is inevitably drawn into the moment.
