Disorder

Disorder is a collection of absurd situations set at the backdrop of a Chinese metropolis. An ecstatic man dancing in the middle of a busy freeway; another threatening to jump off a bridge while another is being violently forced into a police car. Together these scenes form a grim study of the fast economic growth and the ensuing urbanization.

In the city an individual’s behaviour is no longer controlled by the village community and one’s moral judgment begins to blur. At the same time penal authority is transferred to the anonymous authorities. The unstable urbanites are in turns chased by either the police, firemen, health inspectors or paramedics and sometimes even by the animal welfare authorities. Anarchy begins to show behind ostensible order.
The theses depicted by the promising director Weikai Huang will return to mind at the latest when you encounter disorder in a streetcar.
