Film Makes Us Happy

Bryan’s enthusiasm for film has gone too far. Despite his strenuous efforts, making movies does not feed the family and the patience of his wife Sabina is nearly exhausted. The hard-pressed woman tries in vain to enlighten his husband about life’s realities, but he hardly seems to care, believing firmly in his project. Bryan’s naïve optimism and ideology of reaching out for your dream, which is admirable as such, are on a collision course with the wishes of his wife. Conversations lead nowhere and the audience, too, has a hard time deciding whose side to take.

Made with an uncompromising attitude, the unsparingly self-reflective documentary sums up the problems that many indie filmmakers face.  Being able to express your creativity is of utmost importance and seeking profit is inessential, but is trying time and again worth it, when success cannot be guaranteed?
