Edition 2011
The tenth DocPoint was great success with its record audience of over 32 500 documentary film fans. DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival was held in the end on January 2011.
Altogether 148 films were screened. One fourth of the screenings were sold out. Internationally awarded films were the most popular ones, including Banksy’s Exit Through the Gift Shop and Charles Ferguson’s Inside Job. Also the silent film concert Science Is Fiction filled Bio Rex’s halls with visitors.
In addition, the second DocPoint Tallinn gained a larger audience than previous year. DocPoint Tallinn had 3 000 visitor in all, which was approximately one third more than the year before.
Anniversary program also included international tour, which brought the best of Finnish films first to New York. DocPoint NYC - Finnish Documentary Film Event screened 47 films in the beginning of June. Later on, the tour expanded to Latin America.

Edition 2010
The theme of the ninth DocPoint festival was provocation. The documentary films shown at the festival were also dealing with such things as immigration and cultural boundaries. The theme countries were Poland and the United States.
The opening film of the year was the much-acclaimed documentary Steam of Life by Joonas Berghäll and Mika Hotakainen. For the first time in DocPoint’s history, the audience was applauding for 15 minutes after the screening.
Including additional programmes, the festival gathered 27 000 visitors. DocPoint Tallinn was organized for the first time and turned out to be a success with its 2 100 visitors.
DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Festival launched DocPoint Encounters for film professionals. Its purpose is to build solid relationships between Finnish filmmakers and international financers and distributors.
Edition 2009
In the year 2009 DocPoint became a six-days festival and continued to expand. The eight festival gathered 23 000 cinema visitors, which is 30 percent more than a year before. If one includes the amount of additional events’ attendees, the amount of visitors comes to 28 000.
Finnish documentary films gained record audience. Täynnä tarmoa by Oskari Pastila and Erikoisia tapahtumia by Kanerva Cederström were among the 17 domestic sold-out screenings. Legendary Cinéma vérité pioneer Richard Leocock and Nick Broomfield were among festival’s guest visitors. Festival presented retrospective based on Broomfield’s selected filmography.

Edition 2008
Still growing DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Festival was held in January 23rd-27th. The amount of visitors was 22 000. Also DOKKINO, documentary festival for young and children, broke its visitor record with more than 2 100 people.
The audience was interested especially on retrospective by Jörn Donner and Karpon Suomi –series’ screenings. The most popular international films were for example Iranian classics and Ulrich Seidl’s retrospective. Also panels and seminars were remarkably popular. The seminar about the civil war 1918 in Finland at Ateneum hall gained the largest audience.
Edition 2007
DocPoint - Helsinki Documentary Film Festival celebrated its sixth edition with a new record audience in 24th - 28th Jan 2007. All in all there were approximately 21 000 visitors in the festival. Altogether 128 films were screened.
The most viewed Finnish films were some of the premieres, for example A Winter's Journey by Visa Koiso-Kanttila, The Sami by Markku Lehmuskallio and Anastasia Lapsui and Edén Pastora - Commandant ”Zero” by Alvaro Pardo. Also Workingman’s Death, China Blue, Black Gold, LIfe in Loops (A Megacities RMX) and Ghosts of Cité Soleil were sold out. Also the retrospective of Errol Morris, and especially Mr Death: The Rise and Fall of Fred A. Leuchter, Jr, was favoured by the audience.

Edition 2006
DocPoint celebrated documentary films and the five year long course of the festival in 25th - 29th Jan 2006. Like in the previous years, the festival was succesful both concenring the programme and the audience. DocPoint presented altogether 122 films in 12 different programmes, during 125 screenings.
The most viewed programme in 2006 was "New Finnish Documentary Films", which collected over one fifth of all the cinema visits. Other programmes favoured by the audience were the new "Winners & Bestsellers", the retrospective of the old master Frederick Wiseman and the DOKKINO screenings, which are aimed at children and youth. The festival had over 14 500 cinema visits and over 19 500 festivalgoers in total.

Minifestival: Bulgaria by DocPoint 1.-3.9.2006
DocPoint offered again a weekend festival in the beginning of September 2006, this time with the theme "Bulgaria". Bulgaria by DocPoint presented some very rarely seen documentary films from a country soon to be an EU member country. The history of the Balkans and the particular features and several nationalities, music traditions, interesting characters small socities are some of the topics that were dealt in the films made by Bulgarian filmmakers. The films depicted a strong history of today's Bulgaria.
Edition 2005
4th edition of DocPoint - Helsinki Documentary Film Festival continued its success. The festival had over 14 000 visitors in the screenings and 19 000 festivalgoers in total. Aho & Soldan lifetime award was given to filmmaker Peter von Bagh.
The Theme country for 2005 edition was Great-Britain. The programme included also a retrospective from the French filmmaker Chris Marker. British director Sean McAllister and professor Brian Winston gave a masterclass to local students and professionals. The programme also included a high quality documentary film prorgamme for children and youth.

Minifestival: Tanssi by DocPoint 2.-4.9.2005
In the beginning of September 2005, DocPoint organised a minifestival, which presented a series of documentary films dealing with choreographer Pina Bausch and her works. There were also two films in the programme made by Bausch herself. For the first time in Finland the auience had a possibility to enjoy this great artist on big screen.
Edition 2004
The third DocPoint was held in January 2004 and it was a great box office success. The number of visitors during the festival totalled 19 000. Director Pirjo Honkasalo was awarded with the lifetime achievement award. The theme country of 2004 was Swizerland and the visiting festival was the annually organized Visions du Réel.
DocPoint opened the theme year of youth and children's film, Film Jam, and the programme featured again a selection of documentaries for children. A retrospective of the German master Werner Herzog was also featured in the programme.

Minifestival: Pennebaker by DocPoint 3.-5.9.2004
Pennebaker by DocPoint presented five music documentaries by the legendary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker. in Bio Rex theatre, Helsinki.
Edition 2003
DocPoint's second edition continued the success of the precedent year. 12,500 people participated to the festival. The program was a combination of national and international, old and new documentary films. Lasse Naukkarinen received the lifetime award and Alexandr Sokurov was the international guest of honour.
The international selection was based on Dutch documentary. DocPoint presented some of the best films shown at the famous IDFA festival and a selection of films of the great Joris Ivens. In addition, a new selection Documentaries for children introduced documentary films especially targeted for child spectators.

Edition 2002
In 2002, DocPoint was organized for the first time. The festival was an immediate success. The film selections received critical acclaim and the event gathered about 6,300 people. In addition to the selections of new Finnish films, DocPoint 2002 presented French documentaries and a retrospective of Markku Lehmuskallio who received the festival's lifetime award.
